Understanding the Criteria that Define a Snowmobile Class
The snowmobiles that compete in our races are put into classes by 4 key factors. 1. The year of the machine. 2. The size of the engine (measured in cubic centimeters also known as cc). 3. How the engine is cooled, there are three ways this can be done, air can freely pass by making it a free air colded also known as a FA. a fan can blow air into the engine classing as a Fan Cooled or the engine may use a liquid to help cool down the motor. 4. The suspension. There are two types of suspension that make a big diffrence in the handling of the snowmobile. 1985 and older use leaf springs, newer snowmobiles use IFS (Independent Front Suspension)
Snowmobile Snapshot! A Quick Look at Our Speed Machines
Getting your sled ready for the track is an exciting process that involves a few essential adjustments. The snowmobiles used in our events have undergone specific modifications, so it's important to familiarize yourself with our Rules and Regulations.
During our races, snowmobiles are equipped with competition studs and carbides, providing optimal grip on our ice tracks. To enhance control, the handlebars are swapped from stock to Ice oval bars, offering racers increased leverage.
Given our ice tracks' minimal snow coverage, many racers choose to add a lubrication system to prevent the slide rails from melting. Safety is a priority, every snowmobile must incorporate key features, including a functional tether kill switch, rear tunnel enclosure, consistently lit tail light, whether the sled is running or not.
This brief overview aims to give you an idea of the exciting preparations involved before hitting the race track. We encourage you to read through our rules and regulations thoroughly, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable racing experience.
